Residential design + build / Portland, Oregon

Imagine it.
Understand it.
Build it.

A design idea and the realities of construction belong in the same conversation.

Dee Creative brings them together, with one project leader helping the space move from a possibility to a practical, considered result.

Three connected disciplines
01

Design

Understand the homeowner, the architecture, and what the space needs to do. Explore layouts, materials, lighting, storage, and focal points. Develop the chosen direction through visualization, dimensions, and specifications, with scope and budget considered alongside the idea.

02

Build

Turn the agreed design into construction. Jim personally performs appropriate work and coordinates qualified specialty subcontractors when required. Existing conditions, sequencing, and the practical details of execution stay connected to the design intent.

03

Source

Consider the pieces that bring something particular to the space. Materials, hardware, lighting, vintage objects, or architectural salvage may be selected or sourced as part of the agreed scope. Suitability, condition, dimensions, and availability matter as much as appearance.

The value of connection

Better questions.
Earlier in the process.

How will that cabinet meet the existing trim? What does the lighting require? Does a found piece change the dimensions? How does a material choice affect the scope? These questions are more useful while the design is developing than after construction has begun.

Considering design and execution together makes space for those discussions. It helps relate the creative direction to the priorities, investment, and practical requirements of the project.

Discover the five-stage process

Start at the point you’re at.

You may have an idea, a room that isn’t working, or a particular feature in mind. You do not need a finished design to start a conversation. Early discovery helps identify what design development is needed and what an appropriate engagement might include.

Agree the work before building.

Design responsibilities, fees, selections, and preconstruction work are discussed for the project. A proposal and construction contract define the agreed build. The scope determines which work is performed directly and which specialty trades are needed.

Practical capability

One leader.
The right people.

Dee Creative Enterprises is an Oregon-licensed Residential General Contractor. Jim leads the project, personally performs appropriate construction, and coordinates qualified specialty subcontractors where required.

A single point of leadership keeps scope, sequencing, sourcing, and design decisions connected. Clear communication includes the options and tradeoffs that arise as work in an existing home develops.

Begin a conversation

Begin with
a possibility.

An idea doesn’t have to be fully formed to be worth discussing. Tell Jim what you want to change, and we’ll start with the space and the questions it raises.
